Being the younger brother of one famous singer and the uncle of another may be a certain attention getter, but Freddy Cole has had to earn the respect of the music industry on his own.

It took awhile, but the brother of Nat and the uncle of Natalie is finally getting more of the due he deserves, says Jerry Gilloti, proprietor of Gilly's night club....

The fifth and youngest child in a musically gifted family, Lionel Frederick Cole began playing the piano when he was 5 or 6 years old. His three brothers, Eddy, Ike and Nat (who was 12 years older) were all musicians and the Cole house was awash in music-making. Freddy's own skills at the keyboard eventually took him to the Juilliard School of Music in New York. He completed his formal studies at the New England Conservatory of Music earning a Master's degree with his virtuosity...
